Donald Willard Sanders Jr.

Donald Willard Sanders Jr., age 75, died at his home on July 26, 2026. A Celebration of Life will be held on September 27, 2026, at Rule 3. Family and friends are invited to join in remembering and celebrating Donald’s life. Please RSVP through the Evite: https://evite.me/nmNsdkgUJfDonald was born in Mount Clemens, Michigan, on October 26, 1950. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in language arts. After college, he served four years in the United States Army as a Russian translator, stationed in Germany at Checkpoint Charlie during a pivotal era of Cold War history. Following his military service, Donald built a long and skilled career in information systems, working as a database administrator at Borden, then CompuServe, and eventually retiring from the Credit Bureau of Columbus. He also found fulfillment in investments and in buying and selling rare and unique coins. Donald had a deep love for the Russian language and literature, and he remained an avid history enthusiast throughout his life, especially fascinated by the Crusades. He cherished his time spent traveling across the country, finding joy in long road trips, new landscapes, and the freedom of the open road. He loved bowling and enjoyed the camaraderie and friendly competition that came with it. He also enjoyed stargazing and exploring the stories written in the night sky. Throughout his life, Donald found excitement in visiting Las Vegas, where he especially enjoyed playing blackjack. Donald is survived by his two children, Alexander and Victoria, and his siblings, Linda and Gary. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who shared in his curiosity, kindness, and adventurous spirit.
