Joanne Mae Unger, age 90 of Sunbury, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 22nd, in Country Court Senior Community, Mount Vernon, Ohio.
Born on September 23, 1935, in Dresden, Ohio she was the child of Earl Sr. and Lucille Starner. Joanne graduated high school in Dresden, Ohio and went on to have a diverse and fulfilling career as a Home Maker and Administrative Assistant. She had a passion for baking cakes and pies and in her 60s started Lucy’s Goodies, a home based bakery named after her mother.
She married Donald Dayle Lacy on November 4, 1954 and together they welcomed three children: Darren Dayle, Brian William and Cynthia Joanne into this world and lived to see both grandchildren and great grandchildren born.
Later in life, she met Fred Unger and found love again. She married Fred on December 24, 1989, and shared many happy years of marriage with traveling, playing music and gardening.
She will be remembered for her independence, sense of humor and the joy she found in baking and ceramic painting.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Unger, her parents, Earl Sr. and Lucille and by her brother Earl Jr. (Buster).
She is survived by her children, Darren Lacy (Stella), Brian Lacy (Nicole) and Cindy Daniels (Tony) her grandchildren; Olivia, Ava, Hunter, Morgan, Cooper, John and Nick, and her sibling, Earlene Corbin.
