Joyce Andersen-Vie

Joyce M. Andersen-Vie, age 79, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026, following an extended illness.

Joyce was born on August 13, 1946, in Jackson, Michigan to the late Verle and LaVerne Hansen.

Joyce spent her professional career working as an administrative assistant, most recently at Borden, Inc. and Strip, Hoppers, Leithart, McGrath & Terlecky Co., in Columbus, Ohio before retiring.

While living in Chillicothe, Ohio, Joyce volunteered at the Scioto Paint Valley Mental Health Center every weekend for over 20 years, donating thousands of hours answering phones for the crisis hotline.

Joyce was a passionate fan of professional ice skating and traveled the country and Canada following competitions and shows, forming many strong friendships along the way.

Above all, Joyce loved spending time with her family. She is survived by a daughter, Tina (Dennis) Shirey of Westerville, Ohio; a son, Eric Andersen-Vie of Dayton, Ohio; three grandsons, Adam, Brandon, and Jacob Shirey; and 2 great-granddaughters.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sharon.

There will be no service at this time; a private family ceremony will be held in Michigan later in the summer.

In lieu of flowers, her children ask that you honor Joyce’s memory by spending quality time making memories with your mother or family. This would be the greatest tribute to their mother who will be so tremendously missed.
