Obituary

Lorin R.B. Rasmussen, 92,  passed away on October 2, 2026, peacefully at home with his wife of 57 years. He was born on October 16, 1933, and will be remembered as a devoted husband, brother, & uncle; a respected professional, and a man whose interests reflected both skill and deep personal pride.

Lorin was proud to serve his country in the Marine Corp.   He then built a career in the healthcare field that took him to multiple states, where he served as an administrator and as Vice-President of Operations for several long-term care facilities. His work reflected careful leadership and a compassionate commitment to those under his care. Beyond his professional life, Lorin also earned his pilot’s license, a distinction that spoke to his confidence, discipline, and adventurous spirit.

He found enjoyment in skeet shooting and took great pride in animal husbandry, with a special interest in cattle.  Lorin also had an interest in eclectic collections he found at auction.   Together with his wife, he enjoyed the challenge of finding precious treasures and decorating their home with various artwork and memorabilia.   These pursuits were meaningful parts of his life and reflected his appreciation for dedication, care, and craftsmanship. He and his wife also enjoyed sharing their life with multiple pets, a companionship that brought warmth and joy to their home over the years.

Above all, Lorin will be cherished by those closest to him. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Rasmussen, known to many as Susie, whose 57 years of marriage with him were the foundation of a life shared in love and companionship. He is also survived by his sisters, Carol Myhre and Dorothy Bach, who remain to carry forward his memory.

He was preceded in death by his father, Karl Rasmussen; his birth mother, Effie Rasmussen and mother Catherine Rasmussen; his brothers, James Rasmussen and Ron Rasmussen; and his sisters, Dianna Bentsen and Mary Rasmussen.

Lorin’s life was marked by steady work, personal passions, and enduring family bonds. May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him and peace to all who remember him.  For those who wish to donate in Lorin's memory; please consider donations to the Franklin County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center in Columbus Ohio (614-525-3647).  No services are planned at this time.
