Robert H.
Luna
December 30, 1951 – May 24, 2026
Robert Luna, 74, entered eternal rest on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at Embassy Healthcare in Willard, Ohio.
Born in Willard, Ohio, on December 30, 1951, Robert was the son of Elianzer P. "Steve" Luna and Alice M. (Higgins) Luna.
Robert graduated from New London High School in 1970. He was a football letterman from seventh through twelfth grade and also participated in track and wrestling. Athletics remained an important part of his life, and he carried many fond memories of his years at New London. While attending New London High School, he also participated in vocational training through EHOVE Joint Vocational School, studying carpentry and the building trades.
A skilled craftsman who was always eager to expand his knowledge of the building trades, Robert continued his education in carpentry and architectural design. He worked alongside his family in several ventures over the years, including the New London Inn Restaurant and Bar, owned and operated by his parents. He later worked for Ohio Body in New London, Steve Luna & Sons Construction, Nick P. Luna Construction, the New London Tile Yard, Holthouse Farms in Celeryville, and several other construction businesses throughout the region.
From 1976 to 1980, Robert proudly served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, attaining the rank of Lance Corporal. His military service remained a source of pride throughout his life.
Robert shared 25 years with his companion, Cheryl Jones, who preceded him in death in 2018.
Family was at the center of Robert's life. He looked forward to holiday celebrations and gatherings with loved ones and treasured the time spent together. He enjoyed playing the guitar, swimming, and sharing his love of music with others. Robert possessed a remarkable artistic talent and could draw nearly anything placed before him, especially cartoons, which he particularly enjoyed creating. He especially cherished his role as an uncle and took immense pride in his nieces and nephews.
Faith was also an important part of Robert's life. Over the years, he attended Christ Gospel Church in Bucyrus and Messiah House of Prayer in Shiloh, Ohio.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Elianzer P. "Steve" Luna and Alice M. (Higgins) Luna; his brother, Steven Luna Jr.; and his nephew, Thomas Slusher.
Robert is survived by his brother, Reverand Albert (AnnaMarie) Luna of Willard; his brother, David Luna of Norwalk; his sisters, Gloria Slusher of Willard, Marie (Neil) Schoen of Plymouth, and Sharon Myers of New Haven; his friend, Elizabeth Petty of Willard; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members, and friends who will cherish his memory.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Family and friends will be notified once arrangements have been finalized. The family extends its sincere gratitude to the staff of Buckeye Hospice for the compassionate care and support provided to Robert during his final days.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the family c/o Gloria L. Slusher, P.O. Box 326, Willard, Ohio 44890, to assist with Celebration of Life expenses and a family gathering in Robert's honor.
