Virginia E. Jackey, née McKenzie, passed away on September 20, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on May 26, 1937, in Paintsville, Kentucky, she lived a long life marked by warmth and a good sense of humor, a gift that brought lightness and comfort to those around her.

Virginia will be remembered for the spirit she carried through the years and for the laughter she so naturally shared. Her good sense of humor was part of the way she met life and part of what made her presence so cherished by those who knew and loved her. Virginia will also be remembered with affection for her love of gardening, cooking and working on puzzles.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Melvin, and by her daughter, Brenda McKenzie and son Randy Jackey; her grandchildren Jason & Jeremy and Colton & Hali; and sisters Edra Falke & Tene Mullins. Her family will always carry forward her memory with love and gratitude.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank & Edna McKenzie; and by her brothers, Lowell McKenzie, Sam McKenzie, Roger McKenzie, Almous McKenzie, and Red McKenzie. Their memory remained part of the story of her life, and she now rests among those who went before her.

Virginia E. Jackey will be honored with a private family service at the cemetery.   In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to help fight Parkinson Disease.
